INDOBALINEWS - The Industry Ministry has provided assistance to domestic small and medium batik industries (SMIs) in becoming producers of Hajj pilgrims' uniforms by mentoring product quality standardization.

Andi Rizaldi, Head of the Ministry's Industrial Services Standardization and Policy Agency (BSKJI), stated here on Tuesday June 18, 2024, that the standardization mentoring was carried out by assisting SMIs in obtaining the Product Certificate for Use of the SNI Marking (SPPT-SNI).

SNI stands for Indonesian National Standard, and the ministry has assisted small industries in obtaining standardization so that they can apply for halal certification.

The Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) of the Ministry of Religious Affairs issues halal product certificates.

According to Rizaldi, this decision was made due to the high potential of Indonesia's halal industry, which serves 236 million Muslims.

"Domestic halal products have great potential. Indonesia, which has the world's second-largest Muslim population, is also a potential market for halal products, particularly worship equipment," he said as quoted from Antara.

Meanwhile, the Industry Ministry's Center for Textile Industrial Services and Standardization Agency (BBSPJI) helped mentor small businesses.

Cahyadi, the head of BBSPJI, explained that the coaching was designed to ensure that SMIs met raw material and production process standards.
The participants also learned how to set up a workshop to make batik uniforms, provide proof of batik manufacturing ability, obtain batik mark certification, and obtain or pursue halal certification from BPJPH.

Cahyadi explained that mentoring improved the efficiency of batik and textile SMIs by allowing them to fulfill multiple requirements at once.

Thus, industry players who have passed the standardization process can enter the batik market, particularly for Hajj pilgrims from Indonesia.

"We always prioritize integrated industrial solutions that provide benefits for SMIs so that they can meet several regulations and standards requested by users," he said.
